About us

Our vision:
Become the global health standard for physical activity

PAI Health is a health software company focused on the proven science of cardiorespiratory fitness, one of the leading predictors of longevity and health.

What does PAI mean?

PAI stands for Personal Activity Intelligence.

PAI is personalized to you by combining your resting and maximum heart rate, weight, height, age, sex, and your body’s response to physical activities.

PAI is founded on the science of cardiorespiratory fitness, focusing on the fact that any activity counts as long as it gets your heart rate up.

PAI adapts to you as you progress. If you’re new to exercise, it will be easier to earn your first few PAI versus someone who exercises frequently.

Our timeline

Our foundations

PAI Health started as Mio Global, a company that pioneered the wearable space in the early 2010s with the Mio Alpha device. This was the world’s first continuous accurate heart rate monitor wrist wearable.

Scientific partnership

Mio Global then partnered with researchers at the Cardiac Exercise Research Group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to bring the PAI algorithm to Mio wearable devices.

Further scientific validation

The science of PAI was further validated in multiple studies, including those published in The American Journal of Medicine, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, and Progress in Cardiovascular Disease.

PAI Health

With changes in the wearable device marketplace, we pivoted to becoming more software-focused, reforming to PAI Health in 2018. In January of 2020, PAI released its brand new mobile app, which is compatible with the top wearable device brands.

PAI business solutions

PAI Health expanded into insurance, corporate wellness, and research channels, enabling organizations around the world to guide their members to better health, reducing health risks and costs.

A new chapter

PAI Health is now a wholly owned independent subsidiary of Huami Corporation, a world leader in smart wearable devices as well as AI chips, biometric sensors, and data algorithms.  Huami’s mission is to connect health with technology, making PAI an ideal addition to the company's range of solutions.

Our partners

PAI is on the path to become the global health standard for physical activity with the help of strategic partnerships. These include developing the technology platform for NTNU to support the largest exercise study in the world; collaborating with Prudential Asia to feature PAI in the Pulse digital health app; and a strategic partnership with Gen Re, a global reinsurance company.
