Sally Powell
General Manager

Sally Powell is a bilingual (Mandarin Chinese) executive with a decade of leading companies in the international insurance space. Sally joins PAI Health from AXA Global Healthcare, where she was the Head of Market Development, Asia Pacific. Sally previously held senior management positions within Bupa Global, including China Country Manager.

Tricia Burton
Vice President, Product

With over 20 years of corporate strategy, product marketing and executive management experience, Tricia has worked with global innovative companies and pioneered change across many lines of business. As a long-standing member at PAI Health (formerly Mio Global), she has led the development of the PAI brand, establishing credibility and acclaim across the insurance, healthcare and technology space, as well as with consumers.

Tricia has developed partnerships with key industry players to position the company as a thought-leader in the health technology industry, poised to champion lifestyle behavior change in addressing chronic disease.

Tim Jonischkat
Head of Engineering

Tim is an experienced tech leader who oversees PAI Health’s engineering department.

Originally from Bochum, Germany, Tim has 11 years of professional experience supporting technology-based startups and evolving their software ecosystems. He has worked for companies such as Capgemini, Deutsche Telekom and the airport of Düsseldorf. He has lead an international team of scientists in the European research project FI-WARE, and served Hamburg-based startup companies in the e-commerce sector for cruises, fashion, and furniture.

Tim holds a Masters in Software Systems Engineering from University of Duisburg-Essen.

Tyler Tomczyk
Director, Finance

Tyler is an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant who oversees the financial functions at PAI Health. Joining the company in late 2016, Tyler has helped navigate the financial planning and analysis functions throughout PAI Health’s evolution from hardware to software. With a traditional background in accounting, Tyler has also helped introduce and support business intelligence advancement within the company.

Prior to joining PAI Health, Tyler began his career articling in Ernst & Young’s Toronto office, before transitioning into industry and moving to Vancouver. He has held multiple finance related roles within local Vancouver start-ups.

Tyler is a CPA, CA (2011) with a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University.

Alf Egil Edvardsen
Director, Research

Based in Norway, Alf leads the research arm of PAI Health. As co-founder of Beatstack, Alf was responsible for the design, validation and productization of the PAI algorithm.

Alf has held multiple positions with the areas of microcontroller design/manufacturing, product quality engineering, product development and productization.

He holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from NTNU.

Ulrik Wisløff
Head of Cardiac Exercise Research Group at NTNU
Inventor of PAI

Professor Ulrik Wisloff is an internationally recognized researcher, professor, and entrepreneur in the field of exercise physiology, with a primary appointment at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He has more than 300 publications and over 32,000 citations, and is among the world’s 4 most cited scientists in the broad field of ‘exercise’. 

Dr. Wisloff invented the Personalized Activity Intelligence (PAI) metric with the ambition to motivate more people to become sufficiently physically active.

Donald Jones

Donald Jones is a globally recognized leader in digital medicine, digital therapies, technology enabled health services, and virtual clinic business models. Don has led many organizations including serving as the Chief Digital Officer at Scripps Translational Science Institute and VP of Wireless Health Global Strategy for Qualcomm. He also advises boards and executive suites of many of the largest pharmaceutical companies.

Carl Lavie
M.D., FACC, FACP, FCCP

Dr. Carl Lavie is a professor of medicine and director at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute in New Orleans. He is also the editor-in-chief of Progress in Cardiovascular Disease. His research interests include cardiac rehabilitation and prevention, obesity, exercise, and more. He is the author of over 1,000 medical publications, and serves as a frequent lecturer and reviewer for medical journals.

Pam Taub
M.D., FACC, FASPC

Dr. Pam Taub is an Associate Professor at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is also the Director of the Step Family Foundation Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Center at UC San Diego Health. Her clinical practice focuses on preventive cardiology and lipidology, as well as women’s cardiovascular health. Her research focuses on assessing the impact of behavioural, technological, and pharmacological interventions on cardiometabolic disease.
